About Nephrology

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine that concerns itself with the study of normal kidney function, kidney problems, the treatment of kidney problems and renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation). Systemic conditions that affect the kidneys and systemic problems that occur as a result of kidney problems are also studied in nephrology. A physician who has undertaken additional training to become an expert in nephrology may call themselves a nephrologist or renal physician.

Why Rome, Italy?

Renal Care Conference aims to discover advances in health practice, management and education in relation to health disparities as well as a breadth of other topics. In 2014, Rome was ranked 32nd in the Global Cities Index, being the highest-ranking city in Italy. With a GDP of €94.376 billion (US$121.5 billion), the city produces 6.7% of the national GDP (more than any other single city in Italy), and its unemployment rate, lowered from 11.1% to 6.5% between 2001 and 2005, is now one of the lowest rates of all the European Union capital cities. Rome grows +4.4% annually and continues to grow at a higher rate in comparison to any other city in the rest of the country. This means that were Rome a country, it would be the world's 52nd richest country by GDP, near to the size to that of Egypt. Rome also had a 2003 GDP per capita of €29,153 (US$37,412), which was second in Italy, (after Milan), and is more than 134.1% of the EU average GDP per capita. Rome, on the whole, has the highest total earnings in Italy, reaching €47,076,890,463 in 2008, yet, in terms of average workers' incomes, the city places itself 9th in Italy, with €24,509. On a global level, Rome's workers receive the 30th highest wages in 2009, coming three places higher than in 2008, in which the city ranked 33rd. The Rome area had a GDP amounting to $167.8 billion, and $38,765 per capita.

Rome has 22 Universities and 217 hospitals, 381356 health care professionals including 28316 physicians and 32553 clinics and hospitals. The municipal government operates public health facilities across the city's territory, with a total of 770 primary health care units (UBS), ambulatory and emergency clinics and 17 hospitals. The Municipal Secretary of Healthcare Industry has 59,000 employees, including more than 8,000 physicians and 12,000 nurses. Summary of Renal Care 2017 Conference

Renal Care Conference deals with study of kidneys as well as its diseases like normal kidney function, kidney problems, the treatment of kidney stone problems and renal replacement therapy, CKD which are common like haemodialysis and kidney transplantation. Kidney function studies: Increased levels of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine are the hallmarks of acute renal failure. Systemic conditions that affect the kidneys such as diabetes and autoimmune disease and systemic problems that occur as a result of kidney problems such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension are also studied in nephrology. A physician who has undertaken additional training to become an expert in nephrology may call themselves a nephrologists or renal physician.

According to recent statistics report, nearly 26 million adults apart from young and old aged people are suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease complaints and millions of others are at increased risk. The numbers of Kidney transplantations are seemingly very high and in the year of 2013 alone, there are around 15000 kidney transplantations. Due to the rapid increase for the risk of renal disorders, Renal Care 2017 aims to decrease the incidence rate of kidney disease through its international conference on nephrology and cordially invites participants across the globe to discuss and arrive under possible solutions for one of the major critical problems of mankind.

Scope and Importance of Nephrology Research

Global burden of nephrology mortality is increasing drastically every year. According to WHO 10% of the population worldwide is affected by kidney diseases and approximately 65 million die each year. Kidney disease was ranked 16th in the list of causes of total number of deaths. Over 2 million people worldwide currently receive treatment with dialysis or a kidney transplant to stay alive. Of the 2 million people who receive treatment for kidney failure, the majority are treated in only five countries – the United States, Japan, Germany, Brazil, and Italy. Reflecting this imperative, we believe that professionally-oriented education in to cure Renal diseases is essential in the training of clinicians and clinical academics who will provide the future leadership in this key area for global health. Euro Nephrology 2016 aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Nephrology. It also provides the chance for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the fields of Neonatology and Perinatology.

Nephrology Conference 2016 is an international platform for presenting research about diagnosis, prevention and management of renal diseases, exchanging ideas about it and thus, contributes to the dissemination of knowledge in Nephrology for the benefit of both the academia and business. This event brings together Nephrologists, nephrology scientists and all the eminent researchers and experts in the field of Nephrology and Nephrology drugs to explore the advancements in the Nephrology. We bring together industrial executives, Nephrology Pharma and Health care sectors making the conference a perfect platform to network, share views and knowledge through interactive discussions.

Morality rate in kidney diseases

According to the recent statistics the 18th leading death cause of italy is kidney diseases. The morality rate in italy for kidney diseases is 5.47 In the world, every year at least 2.3 million people may have died because of kidney failure. In 2030 number of people receiving dialysis or kidney transplantation set to more than double to over 5 million. In USA every 1 in 3 adults is currently at risk for developing kidney diseases. The 9th leading cause of deaths in USA is kidney disease. In USA 6 lakh deaths are due to kidney diseases. It is being acknowledged that throughout USA more than 17,105 kidney transplantations took place in 2014 alone. In 2015, 11,570 came from deceased donors and 5,535 came from living donors. Every day 12 people die while waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant. For every 14 minutes an individual is added to the renal transplant list. In 2014, 4,270 patients died due to increasing the lag time for a kidney transplant. Another, 3,617 people became too sick to take delivery of kidney transplant. Medical Expenditures for individual patient per year with kidney disease increase from $15,000 in stage 3 to $28,000 in stage 4 to more than $ 70,000 in stage 5. Every year, Medicare spent nearly $ 28.6 billion to treat people with kidney failure. National kidney Foundation has provided more than $100 million for research. Annually US spent $ 41 billion or 17% of their Medicare budget on people with kidney diseases.

Why it’s in Rome, Italy ???

Rome is a city and special commune in Italy and is the capital of Italy and also of the homonymous province and of the region of Lazio. With 2.7 million residents in 1,285.3 km2 (496.3 sq mi), it is also the country’s largest and most populated commune and fourth-most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. The urban area of Rome extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 3.8 million. Between 3.2 and 4.2 million people live in Rome metropolitan area. The city is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, on the Tiber within Lazio (Latium). Rome is the only city in the world to contain in its interior a whole state; the enclave of Vatican City. Rome has a status of the global city. Rome was the 11th-most-visited city in the world, 3rd most visited in the European Union, and the most popular tourist attraction in Italy. The city is one of Europe’s and the world’s most successful city “brands”, both in terms of reputation and assets.

Its historic centre is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Monuments and museums such as the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are among the world’s most visited tourist destinations with both locations receiving millions of tourists a year. Rome hosted the 1960 Summer Olympics. Although associated today only with Latin, ancient Rome was in fact multilingual. In highest antiquity Sabine tribes shared the area of what is today Rome with Latin tribes. The Sabine language was one of the Italic group of ancient Italian languages, along with Etruscan, which would have been the main language of the last three kings who ruled the city till the founding of the Republic in 509 BC. Urganilla, or Plautia Urgulanilla, wife of Emperor Claudius, is thought to have been a speaker of Etruscan many centuries after this date, according to Suetonius’ entry on Claudius. However Latin, in various evolving forms, was the main language of classical Rome, but as the city had immigrants, slaves, residents, ambassadors from many parts of the world it was also multilingual.

KIDNEY

The kidneys are bean-shaped organs that help in the process of filtration removing waste products from blood. They are also involved in regulating blood pressure, electrolyte balance, and red blood cell production in the body. Kidneys are even responsible for the reabsorption of glucose, water, amino acids. Besides these kidneys play a major role in the removal of water-soluble wastes which are diverted to the bladder

DIALYSIS

Dialysis is carried out as a result of reduction in the functionality of the healthy kidneys.  It is needed when the kidneys can no longer take care of body's needs. Failing of kidneys pose the accumulation of wastes, salt and extra water content in the body leading to swelling of body. Optimum levels of certain prominent and useful chemicals in your blood, such as potassium, sodium and bicarbonate can be attained by dialysis.

KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION

Kidney transplantation is a procedure that places a healthy kidney from another person into your body. This one new kidney takes over the work of your two failed kidneys. Kidney transplantation or renal transplantation is the organ transplant of a kidney into a patient with end-stage renal disease. Kidney stones and urinary tract infections can usually be treated successfully. Unfortunately, the exact causes of some kidney diseases are still unknown, and specific treatments are not yet available for them. Sometimes, chronic kidney disease may progress to kidney failure, requiring dialysis or kidney transplantation. Treating high blood pressure with special medications called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors often helps to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease. A great deal of research is being done to find more effective treatment for all conditions that can cause chronic kidney disease.

NEPHRITIS / ONCONEPHROLOGY / DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY

As a result of changes in the way we eat and live, some chronic diseases are increasingly affecting both developed and developing countries. Indeed, diet-related chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, dental disease, andosteoporosis are the most common cause of death in the world and present a great burden for society.

A dietary supplement is intended to provide nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities. Supplements as generally understood include vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids, or amino acids, among other substances. U.S. authorities define dietary supplements as foods, while elsewhere they may be classified as drugs or other products. The application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Registered Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional Therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.

The diagnostic and prognostic validity of sperm function biomarkers is particularly relevant for males with unexplained infertility in which routine semen analysis fails to detect sub cellular   sperm dysfunctions. In this general review, we examine there are several types of acute nephritis. They are Interstitial Nephritis: The spaces between the renal tubules that form urine become inflamed. Pyelonephritis: This type of acute nephritis produces inflammation in the glomeruli. Interstitial Nephritis: This type is often caused by an allergic reaction to a medication or antibiotic.

The majority of nephritis infections occur from the bacteria Escherichia coli (E.coli), which is found in the intestine.

HYPERTENSION ASSOCIATED WITH KIDNEY DISEASES

The arterial pressure in the systemic circulation is referred to as “Blood Pressure”. Increase in the pressure through the walls of the vessels creates a force resulting in a state called hypertension.  Hypertension is the result of narrow, stiff or clogged blood vessels and presence of higher levels of fluid in the blood.  Long term hypertension is a risk factor for many diseases, including kidney failure, heart disease and stroke.

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) otherwise known as chronic renal disease is a state in which the kidney fails to function over time. Chronic kidney disease has no impact at the early states but as the time proceeds the kidneys can no longer be able to remove enough wastes and excess fluids from the body. Diabetes and high blood pressure are the two most common causes that account in most of the cases.

PEDIATRIC NEPHROLOGY

In the paediatric and neonatal intensive care units Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication where Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is frequently implemented in children in whom the supportive therapy is not to the mark to touch  the metabolic demands.

In majority, Peritoneal dialysis is more preferred for children in the times of renal replacement because of the non-complexity of the procedure. In most of the pediatric end stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis is more preferred as it can be done even in home.

PYELONEPHRITIS

Infection in the bladder caused by bacteria is referred to as "Pyelonephritis". Symptoms of kidney infection includes:  High fever, chills, severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, pain during urination, and continuous urination .Children sometimes develop pyelonephritis as a result of an abnormality in the bladder which leads in the backward flow of the urine into the ureter. Drinking sufficient amount of water each day, taking precautions during and after sex may help prevent the disease.

KIDNEY STONES

Kidney stones are otherwise called as a “Nephrolith” or “Renal calculus, which are formed in the urine due to the accumulation of excessive minerals. One cannot confine stones to form only in the kidney but there are many cases where the formation of stones included urethra, bladder and ureters. In 2013, 49 million cases of kidney stones have been reported. As a result around 15,000 were dead throughout the world.

The preliminary symptoms of kidney stone presence include the unbearable pain in the area between the abdomen and the upper thigh on either side of the body or between the ribs and the hip which is referred to as Renal Colic.

URINARY TRACT INFECTION

Urinary tract infection is the second most reported infection in humans in the world. The urinary tract consists of the bladder, the kidneys, the ureters and the urethra that helps in the removal of waste and excess water. The kidney filter the blood, remove wastes and plays a major role in the conversion of excess water into urine, which then travels down the ureters and is stored in the bladder and released through the urethra as urine. Urinary tract infections are the second most common reasons for the usage of antibiotics. Urinary tract infection is caused by the intestinal bacterium E. coli. Women are more likely to get UTI than men because their urethras are shorter. Researchers are trying to develop a vaccine to prevent recurrent UTI but however taking few measures can prevent getting effect by the disease.
